FOOD is important in every culture, but here in Serbia it’s so much more. It’s the main ingredient in our social events, traditions, and daily life, but it’s also an industry that grows, nourishes the economy, and creates jobs both in the countryside and in the cities. We are presenting to you four video stories that reveal the TRADITION that underpins this sector, the INNOVATIONS turning it into a cutting-edge industry, its PERSPECTIVES for growth and progress, and the NEW GENERATIONS taking it into the future.

You’ll hear from producers, companies, academics, and experts for whom food is life, just some of the many remarkable partners of the USAID Competitive Economy Project. They have preserved our traditional varieties and products, brought global innovations and technologies to Serbia, supported and sustained our underdeveloped regions, and conquered international markets.

Tradition in Serbia is carried by old products and varieties that were maintained and celebrated by people dedicated to the uniqueness of tastes and stories. Meet the guardians of a culture that makes us unique, those who have taken the best from the country and tradition and created high-quality products.

Dragoslav Gaga Ivanović (1959 – 2020), winemaker from Župa participated in this video. Mr. Ivanović was responsible for the revitalization of Prokupac, as a true promoter of Župa and its terroir, a successful presenter of the local wine tradition and a winemaker capable of creating exceptional wines.
