Support for Driving Innovation in the Food Processing Industry

On March 2, at the Media Center in Belgrade, was presented a new program titled Premium Food Design Hub initiative to support development of high value products and innovations in the domestic food industry. This unique initiative brings together food start-ups and SMEs with four business accelerators – Impact Hub, Nova Iskra, Desing Taste center and Business Innovation Programs – which will help them develop premium products in accordance with market trends and modern consumers’ preferences.

As part of this initiative, with support from USAID Competitive Economy Project, sixteen food producers will receive direct technical support from hubs in food technology, product design, access to finance and marketing, in order to develop a more diversified offer of high value products in domestic and foreign markets that will lead to higher sales and export performances.

“Through the Premium Food Design Hub initiative, four hubs will directly help SMEs enter new retail and HoReCa niche markets, which will boost income and provide opportunities for scaling up production,” stated Aleksandar Pavlovic, Chief of Party of USAID Competitive Economy Project.
